Community contributions: Bluffton Self Help
Sadie went in the hospital for mandatory knee surgery.
She had health insurance through her company, but her deductible was so high that she would have to use her savings to help with the medical expense.
Her full recovery period was to be approximately 6 to 8 weeks. She would have a loss of approximately one week of work. She planned to make payments toward medical expenses, but with the loss of income from work, she would not be able to cover her electric bill.
After receiving her paperwork via email and confirming her loss of income with her employer, Bluffton Self Help was able pay her electric bill.
Bluffton Self Help provides a broad range of social services for poor working families, the disabled, the sick and the elderly.
