Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra announces musical lineup for 35th season
The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra has announced its 35th season “Music of Grandeur and Majesty” will open in October.
The 2016-2017 season will open with renowned pianist Garrick Ohlsson, who will perform Beethoven’s 5th piano concerto — known as the “Emperor Concerto” — for the symphony’s gala opening night, Oct. 10.
The season will also include Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony No. 4 and the return of Lowcountry Pops featuring a celebration of Gullah culture in February.
The ever popular Holiday Pops will feature the animated film “The Snowman” and the symphony orchestra’s chorus will be joined by the Georgia Southern University chorus in April. The season concludes in May with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.
