Lucas: World class Hungarian violinist to appear with Beaufort Symphony Orchestra
A world-class Hungarian violinist will perform with the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra for two concert appearances this month.
Tamas Kocsis will play from Paganini’s work as part of the orchestra’s “Romantic Virtuosi” concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursdayand at 4 p.m. Feb. 28, at the Sea Island Presbyterian Church, 81 Ladys Island Drive, Beaufort.
Kocsis, who made his musical debut at age 11 on Hungarian Radio, was knighted in 2006, in Budapest, for his musical achievements.
Kocsis has held concertmaster positions with the Fort Worth, Orlando and Savannah orchestras and in 2010, moved to the United Kingdom to become concertmaster for the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast, Ireland.
This concert is the third of a five-concert season celebrating the orchestra’s 30th anniversary.
