A colorful new outdoor exhibit featuring painted pianos will undoubtedly have Beaufort County residents talking.

“PianoPalooza” will feature pianos painted by local artists including Amiri Farris, David Noyes, Vickie Jourdan, Alexandra Sharma and Mark Maute as well as student artists from Bluffton High School and Hilton Head High School.

The pianos will be on display at various locations around Beaufort County.

The event is meant to kick off the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, which will run March 7-14.

A kickoff event for PianoPalooza will take place at noon Saturday at six locations around Hilton Head and Bluffton including Coligny Plaza, The Village at Wexford, Shelter Cove Towne Centre, Main Street Hilton Head, Hilton Head Tanger Outlet 1 and Corner Perk, in Old Town Bluffton’s Promenade.

The pianos will be on display at these locations throughout February and will then be moved to The Art League of Hilton Head’s gallery, inside Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, 14 Shelter Cove Lane, where they will be available for auction.

For details on the pianos or for tickets to the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, call 843-842-2055 or visit www.hhipc.org.
