Lucas: New exhibit to feature Beaufort painter Linda Sheppard

An exhibit opening this weekend on Hilton Head Island will feature the award-winning work of Beaufort artist Linda Sheppard.

“Painting God’s Creation: People and Places,” will feature portraits, landscapes and other work from Sheppard’s travels and will include a variety of media.

Sheppard, who studied painting at the National Academy of Design in New York, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Seattle, taught art for 16 years.

Sheppard’s work has won numerous awards in national shows and has been featured in national magazines.

The exhibit will be on display beginning Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head, and will run through April 14.

Exhibit hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Sundays.
