CELEBRATING LOWCOUNTRY DIVERSITY
The Lowcountry Diversity Coalition will host two concerts in one weekend, one at 7 p.m. April 29 and another on May 1 at 4 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 829 William Hilton Head Parkway, Hilton Head.
This amazing community concert to celebrate diversity features the Diversity Unity Choir and local soloists with Gospel, Latin, Blues, Motown, American Standards and Gullah Ring-Shout Dancing.

SWING INTO SUMMER CONCERT
Hilton Head Big Band under the direction of Pete Stephenson will premiere “Where is Freedom?” by musical theatre writers Luanne and Kristen Rosenfeld. The new song arranged by Richard Orr and performed by Amber Thornburg, the song will be featured at the Swing Into Summer concert benefiting the Junior Jazz Foundation. The Junior Jazz Foundation helps ensure that young music students get the instruments, lessons and opportunities they need to keep music alive on Hilton Head for the next generation.
Swing Into Summer will take place May 26 in the Grand Ballroom at Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort, 40 Folly Field Road, Hilton Head Island, S.C. Doors open at 5 PM. A full buffet dinner will be available for $15 until 6:30. Cash bar.

LOWCOUNTRY WIND SYMPHONY
The Lowcountry Wind Symphony has two upcoming performances of “From Great Britain to the New World.” The first is Friday, April 29, at 7 p.m. at Lowcountry Community Church, 801 Buckwalter Parkway in Bluffton, and the second is Sunday, May 1, at 4 p.m. at Sea Island Presbyterian Church, 81 Lady’s Island Drive in Beaufort. HILTON HEAD CHORAL SOCIETY
The Hilton Head Choral Society is planning two concerts in May. The HHCS will celebrate its 45th season and the 20th year with Artistic Director Tim Reynolds at “For We Wish You Music” slated for 7 p.m. Friday, May 13. (This concert originally was scheduled in April but was postponed because of a COVID outbreak.) The annual patriotic commemorative concert “America Sings!” will be Sunday, May 29, at 7 p.m. Both concerts will be at First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Parkway on Hilton Head. YOUNG ARTIST PERFORMANCES
The final program of the Young Artist Performances season will be presented Sunday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in a private Hilton Head Home. The concert features 15-year-old violinist Lilyanne Thoroughman with pianist Dobin Park. They will perform works by Mozart, Brahms, Liszt and others.
Lilyanne, who is a student of Kurt Sassmanshas, of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, has been featured on NPR and has soloed with several orchestras.
A few seats are still available for a $25 donation, which will support Lilyanne’s continuing music education.

Coastal Discovery Museum – Main Gallery, April 23-July 3.
The Image Hunter: On the Trail of John James Audubon features work by the Italian artist Hitnes. The exhibition is a culmination of The Image Hunter project, in which Hitnes retraced Audubon’s travels in the United States and created work during a residency at the Halsey Institute at the College of Charleston in 2017 and 2018. The Coastal Discovery Museum is pleased to host the final stop on this national touring exhibition.

HILTON HEAD ART LEAGUE
This spring, Art League of Hilton head will be presenting “Peter Dallos: Flowering,” a series of metal sculptures of flowers in varying states of blooming. The evocative and powerful collection explores the beautiful yet sometimes spindly and bizarre forms of orchids and forest flowers.
