Pedestrian hit by truck on I-95, dies one day later, SC troopers say

A pedestrian is dead one day after being hit by a large pickup truck on I-95 in Clarendon County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The driver of a 2025 Ford F650 collided with a pedestrian while traveling south on I-95 near Walterboro, troopers said. The crash happened Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 2:40 p.m.

The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital after sustaining injuries and died the next day, according to Master Trooper William Bennett. The deceased has not yet been identified by the Clarendon County Coroner’s Office.

There were three occupants in the Ford and none were injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
