FAQ

The Island Packet’s & The Beaufort Gazette’s e-Edition Upgrade Q&A

Questions, and answers, you might have about the new, improved e-Edition:

How do I flip the pages?

There is an arrow toward the bottom right of the screen that advances the pages. There is also an arrow on the bottom left to flip pages the other direction. You can also swipe between pages if you're on a tablet or phone.

How do I navigate between sections?

You can move to the sections with the table of contents at the bottom left corner of the screen. You can also use the thumbnail option in the bottom middle of the page.

How does the Table of Contents work?

The table of contents is located in the bottom left corner of the e-Edition. The table of contents works by first selecting the section you want to read in the bottom left corner of the page. Click on that section. The name of the section is then listed in the bottom left corner. Move your mouse over the text to right of the section name and it gives you a list of all the articles in that section.

Can you still scroll to flip the pages when reading on a computer?

If you change your page view you can still scroll through the paper. Use the page options in the upper right of the page (to the left of the bell) and choose the "fit two pages" option. You can scroll through the paper and when you see an article you want to read, you can click once to expand or double click it to open it in a new window.

How do I print the crosswords or other games?

Double click on the crossword puzzle to open it in a new window. Click on the print icon to print the puzzle to one page.

How do I access past editions?

You can access the past two weeks of papers as well as the archive via the calendar icon in the upper left corner of the page. The calendar icon is just to the right of The newspaper logo.

Why does the scroll move you too far down the page?

There is a new feature in this version of the e-Edition that makes scrolling easier. Click the page with your mouse and hold the mouse button down and move it to your desired location. You can move the page up or down, left or right.

Why don’t the icons on the left of the page work?

Those icons are showing what each of the icons does. The live icons are mostly in the upper right corner of the page. The calendar and search are in the upper left corner of the page.

Why do I get the following message on my Android browser: "The user experience might not be optimal on this browser"?

This message can be ignored. It is in the process of being removed.
