June's photo contest theme is 'relax'
Summer can be a busy time. School's out, so the kids need entertaining. Backyard barbecues are planned for weekend after weekend. You may even be trying to squeeze a family vacation in between trips to the beach or entertaining guests visiting on a vacation of their own.
But hopefully you've got some down time in there -- time for sweet tea or lemonade sipped on a porch, time to lay on the beach or build a sandcastle, time to let go.
The theme for The Beaufort Gazette and The Island Packet's June photo contest is "Relax."
What says "relax" to you? Snap a photo of it and attach it to an email sent to photocontest@islandpacket.com or photocontest@beaufortgazette.com. By submitting, you agree to our Terms of Use.
Photos should be at least 5-by-7 inches and 200 dpi and in a .jpg file format. In the body of the email, include your full name, town, email address and daytime phone number, the date the photo was taken, where the photo was taken, and a brief (50 words) description of your photo. Please include details. For example, what was the occasion? What camera and lens did you use?
The contest will be judged by the newspapers' multimedia editor Drew Martin; Phil Heim, the man behind the lens at BeaufortPics.com, the Facebook page by the same name and a new gallery on Port Republic Street; and Eat Sleep Play Beaufort, a popular community Facebook page and website.
Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. June 24. A winner will be announced at the end of the month. The winner's photo will appear in the paper, and all entries will appear in a gallery on the newspapers' website.
