How to submit to The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette's May photo contest
The theme for The Beaufort Gazette and The Island Packet's May photo contest is "Think Spring."
Spring can be a bit fleeting in the Lowcountry; there's normally just a few weeks between the chill of winter and weather so hot and humid it makes you think twice about going outside. But a lot can be packed into those few weeks -- festivals, evenings on the porch, walks surrounded by the smells and sights of blooming plants, strawberry picking, farmers markets ... the list goes on and on.
What says spring in the Lowcountry to you? Snap a photo of it and attach it to an email sent to photocontest@islandpacket.com or photocontest@beaufortgazette.com. By submitting, you agree to our Terms of Use.
Photos should be at least 5-by-7 inches and 200 dpi and in a .jpg file format. In the body of the email, include your full name, town, email address and daytime phone number, the date the photo was taken, where the photo was taken, and a brief (50 words) description of your photo. Please include details. For example, what was the occasion? What camera and lens did you use?
The contest will be judged by multimedia editor Drew Martin; Phil Heim, the man behind the lens at BeaufortPics.com, the Facebook page by the same name and a new gallery on Port Republic Street; and Eat Sleep Play Beaufort, a popular community Facebook page and website.
Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. May 25. A winner will be announced at the end of the month. The winner's photo will appear in the paper, and all entries will appear in a gallery on the newspapers' website.
