Recreation Briefs, April 9: Citadel football coach Houston to speak in Beaufort

NEW CITADEL FOOTBALL COACH TO SPEAK IN BEAUFORT

The Beaufort Citadel Club's annual Coaches Night will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at the Beaufort Yacht & Sailing Club on Lady's Island (30 Yacht Club Drive).

New Citadel football coach Mike Houston will be the guest speaker, along with members of his staff. Houston spent the last three seasons as the head coach at Lenoir-Rhyne, where he led the Bears to the NCAA Division II national championship game last season.

The social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by a Lowcountry Boil served at 7 p.m. Dress is casual. Admission is $15 per person or $20 per couple.

ATHLETIC CLUB TO HOLD PANEL DISCUSSION

The next meeting of the Athletic Club of the Lowcountry will be Monday, April 14, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church on Buckwalter Parkway in Bluffton.

The social begins at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments, and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend.

Bob Lee, program chair, will moderate a panel discussion on issues in the sports world. Club member Dominick Alfieri and club president Bob Kanaby -- who both have extensive backgrounds in organized athletics -- will serve on the panel.
