ISLAND REC HONORS COACHES

The Hilton Head Island Recreation Association has recognized six coaches from the recent hockey and basketball seasons, naming them as coaches of the year.

Bill Bosley, Stephen Luther and Glenn Klepchick were chosen coaches of the year in the youth roller hockey program, while Mike McMullin, Ed Brill and Doug Gillman were coaches of the year in winter basketball.

They each received the Association's Outstanding Volunteer Coaches Award for their hours of dedication and for being positive role models for the children in the Island Rec programs.

SUN CITY SOFTBALL EVENT TO HELP WOUNDED WARRIORS

Sun City will be hosting a three-game softball exhibition May 26 involving the Sun City Travel Team and teams from Parris Island and the Third Infantry Division.

The "Salute to Wounded Warriors" will begin at 10 a.m. at the Sun City Sports Park. The SCVA Honor Guard will parade and post the colors, and wounded warriors in attendance will be recognized.

The Sun City Travel Team takes on the Parris Island Marines at 10:45. The Parris Island Marines will play the Third Infantry Division at noon, and the Sun City Travel Team faces the Third Infantry Division at 1:20 p.m. in the day's final matchup.

Proceeds from the sale of poppies, hot dogs and soda will go to support the Wounded Warrior Project.
