B.C. UNITED RALLIES TO WIN 3V3 CHAMPIONSHIP

Thomas Holladay scored two quick goals in the closing moments to lift the B.C. United under-9 soccer team to a 4-3 victory in the championship match of the Coastal Georgia 3v3 Summer Sizzler on Sunday in Savannah.

William Tumlin and Colton Doran scored first-half goals for United, but the team trailed the Augusta Lightning, 3-2, in the late stages before Holladay's goals. The victory qualified B.C. United for the 3v3 National Challenge Championship in Florida.

The team is coached by Yoshihisa Tanaka. Team members are: Colton Doran, Madison Gallion, William Tumlin, Ashton Bell, Aki Carter and Thomas Holladay.

ISLAND REC SEEKING VOLUNTEER COACHES

LIFEGUARD COMPETITION WRAPS UP TODAY

The 14th annual Shore Beach Service Lifeguard competition concludes today at 6:30 p.m. at the Hilton Head Island Holiday Inn Beachfront on Coligny Beach. Top performers have a chance to advance to the regional competition next month in North Myrtle Beach.

PHYSICALS BEING GIVEN THIS SUNDAY

Sports physicals will be given from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. this Sunday at the Hilton Head Island Middle School gym. The physicals will cover students who wish to participate in any sports this fall. Cost is $10.
