Battery Creek stops Garrett, 25-20, for 2nd win

Tyrone Dilbert ran for two touchdowns and Adonis Williams and Alterell Chapman each added one as Battery Creek beat Garrett, 25-20, on the road.

Porter Mahan and Justin Cochran had interceptions and Sonja Jones was the top tackler on defense for the Dolphins (2-4).

‘Our guys played very hard,” Battery Creek head coach Jim Shuman said. “They wanted to get out to 1-0 start in the conference, to get started right after the long layoff. We were rusty in a lot of areas, but  I’m proud of our coaching staff and our players. They gave a very good effort tonight.”

Battery Creek took a 19-7 third-quarter lead before  Garrett pulled to within 19-14. Chapman’s score made it 26-14.

Garrett’s final score came on a tipped Hail Mary pass, according to Shuman.
