Two more Beaufort Eagles have made their college decisions, and will continue their basketball careers in the fall.
Seniors Ryle Owens and Devin Stedman signed with schools this week after helping Beaufort reach the playoffs in 2014-2015. Owens is headed to USC-Salkehatchie, while Stedman will attend Division III Chatham University, which recently added men's sports to the athletic department.
Owens was a key piece in Beaufort's team, filling in for an injured Adonis Grant while averaging 13 points per game. He was great from beyond the arc as well, shooting 39 percent from three.
"Ryle did a great job," Beaufort coach Nate Livesay said. "He improved so much that we were able to be competitive even without Adonis there. He's really just a terrific kid.”
Stedman was a glue guy for the Eagles, playing anywhere and everywhere on the court to complement Beaufort's offensive weapons.
"He was kind of the mix and match guy," Livesay said. "He didn't really care how many shots he was getting. He just wanted to do whatever you needed to do to help us win.”
