Prep roundup, Feb. 23: Hilton Head Christian continues roll through SCISAA; Thomas Heyward bounced

Hilton Head Christian Academy routed Marlboro Academy 66-31 to advance to the final four in the SCISAA Class 2-A girls basketball playoffs.

Macee Tammimen led the way for the Eagles with 21 points. Ziaira Doe added 21 and Monica Bundy scored 13.

HHCA (25-2) will face Calhoun Academy at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sumter Civic Center.

Spartanburg Day 35, Thomas Heyward Academy 16: Ivy Bryan scored 10 to lead the Rebels, whose season ends at 15-4.


The Beaufort Cup: Hilton Head Island and Bluffton opened with wins on the first night of the Beaufort Cup soccer tournament.

In the first game, the Seahawks (1-0) won by a margin of 10-0 over Whale Branch (0-1). Waldo Lopez netted two goals and two assists for Hilton Head Island.

Nick Hoffman and Adrian Salado each had two goals for Hilton Head, and Jesus Garcia, Miguel Ceron and Rolando Rico had single goals. The Seahawks’ 10th goal was an own goal.

In the night’s second game, Bluffton (1-0) downed Beaufort High 2-1 on a game winner by Miguel Lopez.
