Beaufort High School: The Beaufort High School wrestling team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 4-A state dual tournament Saturday with wins over Goose Creek, 48-20, and Conway, 57-19, on Saturday in Conway.

The Eagles (22-6) will face Lexington in the final eight on Monday in Lexington.

"It's going be a tall order," Beaufort coach Bill Damude said. "Hopefully, the guys can rise to the occasion."

Going 2-0 on Saturday for Beaufort were: Jake Sharp (106 pounds), Michael Holmes (152), Trey Arant (160), Eric Blakely (170), Codrian Smalls (182), Clint Wright (195), Kentrell Seabrook (220) and Tyler Wilson (285).

Hilton Head Island High School: The Seahawks won their first-round match against Gilbert in the Class 3-A state dual tournament at Socastee, but then were knocked off in the second round by the host team, 40-36.

Quin Gammon, the only female wrestler on Socastee's roster, swung the match in the home team's favor with a pin of Chance Bentzoni at 120 pounds.

Hilton Head High lost despite winning four matches by forfeit.

Battery Creek: The Dolphins were eliminated from the Class 2-A/1-A state dual tournament in the semifinals Saturday at Edisto, falling to two-time defending state champion Bamberg-Ehrhardt, 41-28.

"Our kids wrestled good, just didn't have quite enough horsepower for them," Battery Creek coach Nathan Day said.

Battery Creek (32-14) advanced out of the quarterfinals with a 54-17 rout of Loris.

Brian LaBean, Deandre Johnson, Chris Kennedy and Joseph Cuevas each went 2-0 on the day for Battery Creek, which finished sixth in the state.
