Prep Roundup, Oct. 11: Hilton Head Prep tennis team rolls past Bluffton


Hilton Head Prep 5, Bluffton 1: Hilton Head Prep swept the singles matches and remains unbeaten despite playing without their top two players, who missed the match because of injury.

Bluffton won the No. 2 doubles match to prevent a shutout.

Hilton Head Prep (10-0-1) begins the SCISAA playoffs next week.

Tri-match at Battery Creek: Kaila Smith and Ariana Parker had six kills apiece to help Beaufort High defeat Battery Creek (25-22, 25-22) and Beaufort Academy (25-15, 25-18). In the night's other match, Beaufort Academy topped Battery Creek (25-23, 25-14).

Parker also had five blocks on the night for Beaufort High, and Savannah Malphrus added five kills and eight aces.

Teniellia Leak had 15 kills and four blocks to lead Battery Creek. Sara Anderson (6 kills, 2 aces) and Tina Kwok (3 aces, 3 kills, 2 digs) also contributed for the Dolphins.

Battery Creek (14-8) plays at Whale Branch at 4:30 p.m. today.

Beaufort High (5-10) plays in the Hilton Head Island High School tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Beaufort Academy (5-11) hosts region-leading Bible Baptist on Tuesday in its last regular-season match.
