HHCA girls set to tee it up in SCISAA golf finals

The Hilton Head Christian Academy girls golf team will be looking to move a step closer to the top today when the Eagles tee it up in the SCISAA championship at Orangeburg Country Club.

Defending champion Pinewood Prep, which won last year's title by 37 strokes, is the overwhelming favorite in the 18-hole, play-five-keep-four tournament that tees off with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.

The Eagles finished third last year at 199 behind the play of all-state performer Anna Lesemann Eddy, who finished third. Jamie Hubbard and Jordan Foster will join Eddy as Eagles who scored in the event last season. Molly Lucci and Bethany Bunce round out the lineup.

"If we play our best, we have a good shot at second place," said coach Doug Langhals, who called Pinewood Prep the "favorite by a long shot."

"After them it's a tight pack of teams," Langhals said. "We are playing four eighth-graders and a seventh-grader, so top three would be a great finish."
