The Bluffton High School volleyball team outlasted rival Hilton Head Island High in the championship match of the nine-team Beaufort County Invitational on Saturday in Bluffton, as the Bobcats defeated the Seahawks in three games in the Gold division final, 25-14, 26-27, 17-15.
Mackenzie Cooler led the way for Bluffton (27-6) with 47 kills and 41 assists. Jordan Franklin tallied 25 kills, 53 assists and 15 digs on the day. Abby Roulston had 22 kills and 14 kill-blocks, and Morgan Delaplane came up with 17 digs for the Bobcats, who were undefeated in pool play.
Hilton Head High also was perfect in pool play.
The Silver championship was won by Hilton Head Prep, which defeated Beaufort High, 25-15, 25-9.

HHCA Invitational: Newberry Academy won the boys title and Pinewood Prep was the girls champion Saturday in Hilton Head Christian's meet at the Island Recreaction Center pool. The host Eagles took third in the boys division and fourth on the girls side.
Charles Michael and Charlie Guenther led the HHCA boys, each winning an event. Michael was first in the 200 freestyle and second in the 100 backstroke, while Guenther won the 100 breaststroke. They also were part of a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
Ashley Weaver starred for the HHCA girls, winning the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke.
A split squad from Hilton Head High finished third on the girls' side.
