Emma Stanton sometimes has to fight through the boredom, whether she wants to admit it or not.
Each and every girl on the Hilton Head Island High tennis team suffers from the same problem. The Seahawks -- the five-time state champions, mind you -- generally coast through the weaker competition at the Class 3-A level prior to the postseason. It can be tough to stay motivated when you're breaking through the competition like Hilton Head High does.
"It can be difficult," she said. "But it's all about who you are as a player. There's always ways to improve yourself."
The senior, who will go for a personal four-peat when it comes to state titles this season, always tries to work on the little things during Region 8-AAA play.

"You want to make the most of any opportunity and just enhance all aspects of your game," she said.
