SCISAA Class 3-A state tournament: Hilton Head Prep, the No. 3 seed in the six-team upper bracket, traveled to Sumter and defeated No. 6-seed Florence Christian and No. 2 seed Hammond to advance in the double-elimination tournament.

The Dolphins will face defending state champion Porter-Gaud, the top seed in the upper bracket, at 9:50 a.m. Saturday.

Prep defeated Florence Christian 25-13, 25-7 and Hammond 16-25, 25-18, 25-16. Liz Buterbaugh led the Dolphins with 26 kills, six blocks and 100 percent receiving. Halie Parker added eight kills, Mackenzie Brown finished with four kills, four assists and was 20 for 21 serving. Brooke Churchich contributed 20 assists.

Beaufort High: Beaufort High ended its season with a split of a tri-match at Summerville, falling to the Green Wave 18-25, 22-25 and defeating Stratford 25-19, 25-17. The Eagles finished 8-9 on the season and 3-5 in Region 8-AAAA.

In the victory over Stratford, Amber Gant finished with five digs and five kills, Ashley Tillery came up with eight digs and Ariana Parker and Janelle Berks totaled five blocks each. Tillery added 14 digs in the Summerville match. Gant added 10 digs and nine kills. Alexia Neal tallied 10 digs and eight kills. And Bailey Lane finished with three blocks against the Green Wave.


Beaufort High 6, Colleton County 0: The Eagles claimed their sixth consecutive region title by defeating the Cougars. Beaufort High has not lost a region match the past five seasons. The team on Monday will play host to its first round, Class 4-A playoff opponent.

Hilton Head Prep 6, Florence Christian 0: The Dolphins rolled in their SCISAA Class 3-A second round playoff match. The team travels to Sumter today, where it will face Hammond in a 2 p.m. state semifinal match.

Bluffton 4, Cane Bay 1: The Bobcats earned another Region 7-AAA victory, setting up a showdown with rival Hilton Head High on Monday. The match with the Seahawks was postponed from earlier this week due to weather.
