Whale Branch 3, Bethune-Bowman 0: The Warriors remained undefeated with the non-region victory at home, winning 25-7, 25-10, 25-4.

Jamie Whalen finished with seven aces and eight kills to help lead Whale Branch. Monique Bing contributed 16 assists. Vanessa Scott added eight aces and Cassie Lewis and Nicole Fulton each finished with six aces.

The Warriors improved to 3-0. They play host to Estill and Ridgeland starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Cathedral Academy 3, Thomas Heyward 2: The Rebels won the first two games before allowing visiting Cathedral Academy to rally and hand Thomas Heyward its first loss, 18-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-13, 18-16.

"It was great. We needed it," Rebels coach Leanne Eddy said. "It was the first game we really had some tough competition. We played extremely well the first two games, and we relaxed a little bit and they took advantage of it."

Chandler Cook led the Rebels with 13 kills, and Ashlie Layman added 11 kills and team-highs for blocks (8) and digs (9). Andrea Daring had 11 assists and four digs, and Kelsey Baker added nine assists.

Thomas Heyward (8-1, 1-1 SCISAA Region 2-AA) plays at home at 5 p.m. tonight against St. Andrew's.

Hilton Head Prep 3, Northwood Academy 0: Liz Buterbaugh and Taylor Kent returned from injuries to help the Dolphins sweep a SCISAA Region 3-AAA match, 28-26, 25-16, 25-15.

Buterbaugh led the way with 23 kills, seven digs and six blocks. Halie Parker added 13 kills, and Brooke Churchich had 35 assists.

Hilton Head Prep (10-9) plays at Hilton Head Christian on Thursday. The varsity match is set for 6 p.m.

Bluffton High School: The Bobcats swept a tri-match in Savannah, beating Savannah Christian 2-1 (17-25, 25-22, 25-15) and sweeping St. Vincent's Academy 2-0 (26-24, 25-19).

Abby Roulston had 20 kills and five blocks, and Mackenzie Cooler added 12 kills and three blocks for Bluffton. Grace Collins led the Bobcats with 35 assists and Mikyla Houghlan was a perfect 33-for-33 serving.

Bluffton (13-5) travels to Lake Marion for a Region 7-AAA match Thursday.


Beaufort High 199, Fort Dorchester 224: Lauren Ware shot a 45 over nine holes to lead the Eagles to a convincing win over their Region 8-AAAA rivals at Dataw Island Club. Rebecca Simonsen shot 50, Michelle Britton shot 51, Jenny Mullins carded a 53 and Sam Belflower posted a 54 to round out Beaufort High's scoring.


Bluffton 5, Hilton Head Christian 2: The Bobcats won four of five singles matches to knock off the host Eagles. Bluffton hosts Wade Hampton at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Hilton Head Christian (0-4) plays Hilton Head Prep at 4 p.m. Thursday at Sea Pines Racquet Club.

Hilton Head Prep 5, St. Andrew's 1: The Dolphins cruised to an easy victory at Savannah's Bacon Park, s the Lions were able to field only four players.
