Officially, the Hilton Head Christian Academy football team will earn a 15-0 victory tonight against First Baptist. But the Eagles won't even have to take the field -- or get on the bus, for that matter -- to do it.
First Baptist elected to forfeit the game, Eagles coach Tommy Lewis said, because it didn't have enough healthy players to be competitive.
Because SCISAA uses a point system to determine playoff seeding tiebreakers, and because the point-spread for each game is capped at 15 points, the game goes in the books as a 15-0 victory.
The Eagles (2-1, 1-0 SCISAA Region 2-AA) will be back in action next week, playing host to Thomas Sumter in a rematch of last year's SCISAA Class 2-A state championship game.
