Wando 4, Beaufort High 2: The Eagles fell short of knocking off last year's Class 4-A runner-up on Wednesday. Kelsey Butler and Addie Everidge both won in third-set tiebreakers for Beaufort High. Butler improved to 4-1 on the season.

VARSITY GIRLS GOLF
Quad match at Moss Creek: Bluffton improved to 8-0 on the year, holding off Hilton Head High to finish first in a four-team match at Moss Creek.
Bluffton -- led by Sammie Buchanan's 36 and Brandi Hammonds' 37 -- finished with a total of 168, four shots ahead of the Seahawks. Hilton Head High's Jackie Budidharma also had a 36 and teammate Nathlie Lezcano carded a 37 as the Seahawks ended with a total score of 172.
Beaufort, led by Michelle Britton's 48, placed third with a score of 222. Fort Dorchester was last at 231.
Hilton Head Christian: Anna Lesemann Eddy took home medalist honors from Santee National Golf Course in Charleston, but the Eagles finished third in the tri-match. Heathwood Hall won the match with a total score of 142, followed by Wilson Hall at 147 and Hilton Head Christian at 161.
Eddy posted the day's best score with a 40, while Jamie Hubbard (51) and Jordan Foster (69) rounded out the Eagles' lineup.
Hilton Head Christian returns to the golf course Thursday when it hosts Pinewood Prep at Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton.
Porter Gaud 3, Hilton Head Christian 0: The Eagles dropped their region-opener to the defending state champions to fall to 2-7 on the season.
"But we played our best volleyball," coach Steve DeSimone said. "The girls actually looked pretty good tonight."
Hilton Head Christian's Lauren Davis and Andy Anderson finished with six digs each. Anderson added seven kills. The schedule doesn't get easier for Hilton Head Christian It travels to play No. 1 Ashley Hall tonight and will play top five-ranked Pinewood Prep on Saturday.
Ashley Hall 3, Hilton Head Prep 0: Prep fell 25-10, 25-13, 25-14 without injured starters Liz Buterbaugh and Taylor Kent. Halie Parker finished with four kills to help lead the Dolphins. Mackenzie Brown added thee kills, a block and two aces. And Brooke Churchich tallied 16 assists. Prep (9-7) plays host to Bluffton on Monday at 5:45 p.m.
Battery Creek tri-match: Battery Creek defeated Charleston Math & Science 2-0 (25-17, 25-20) and fell to Academic Magnet 2-0 (25-7, 25-14).
During the Dolphins win, Sherea Walls helped lead the way with nine kills and a dig. Vanessa Stanley contributed two aces and five assists. Stephanie Colleran also added a pair of aces for Battery Creek.
Against Academic Magnet, Tina Kwok tallied an ace, a kill and five digs. Courtney Lane and Walls added two kills each for Battery Creek, which travels Monday to Ridgeland for a 4 p.m. match.
Thomas Heyward 3, Beaufort Academy 0: The Rebels won by scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 25-11 to move to 8-0 on the season.
Ashlie Layman had a team-high seven kills and two blocks. Courtney Childers led the Rebels with five aces, and Kayla Sanders added four. Paige Peeples had three kills, three aces and four assists. Jordan Hunnicutt had three kills, two aces and was 9 for 9 serving.
The Rebels (8-0, 2-0 region) host Cathedral Academy at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Summerville meet: Summerville's girls edged Beaufort High by five points in a three-team meet. Summerville's boys also won, taking first place in all 11 events.
Jessica Barras won the 200-yard individual medley, Laura Barras was first in the 50 freestyle, Brittany Sutton won the 100 butterfly, Elizabeth Mandell took the 100 backstroke and the Beaufort High girls won two relay events.
Battery Creek finished third in both the boys and girls meets, but several Battery Creek swimmers improved their times. The Dolphins' 400-yard freestyle relay (Kris Ayers, John Hardin, John Lee and David Partridge) swam a 4:45, down from 5:27. Stephen Kadas improved his 100-yard backstroke from 1:41 to 1:35. Courtney Hershberger dropped her 100-yard breaststroke tome from 2:21 to 2:11. Both the Dolphins boys and girls 200-yard freestyle relay teams also improved times. In the boys 200-medley relay (Ayers, Daniel Lee, Hardin and Partridge), the Dolphins improved to 2:22 from 2:32.
