Bluffton 2, South Effingham 0: Abby Roulston had seven kills, and Mackenzie Cooler finished with six kills and eight assists as the Bobcats ran their record to 5-2 with a 25-19, 25-17 victory. Dani Bothe added four kills and Grace Collins led the team with 11 assists.

Bluffton hosts Savannah Christian tonight.

Battery Creek 2, Charleston Math & Science 0: Sharea Walls had five kills to lead the Dolphins to victory, 25-23, 25-14. Sarah Rice, Sara Anderson and Courtney Lane had one kill apiece.

Colleton County 2, Battery Creek 0: Colleton County dropped the Dolphins' record to 1-4 with a 25-19, 25-18 win. Sharea Walls had four kills and Sara Anderson added one for Battery Creek.

Thomas Heyward 3, Charleston Collegiate 0: The Rebels upped their record to 7-0, winning their region opener 25-17, 25-21, 25-23.

Ashlie Layman notched 11 kills, two digs and one block for the Rebels. Layman also went 7 for 7 from the service line.

Thomas Heyward's Chandler Cook added seven kills and four digs, Kelsey Baker chipped in seven assists and a pair of kills and Jordan Brown had two aces along with a 13-for-14 serving performance.

Andrea Daring had a team-best 11 assists.

The Rebels next visit Beaufort Academy on Thursday.


Beaufort Academy 8, St. Andrew's 1: The Eagles opened their season with a fairly easy victory, although Shelby Mixon had to battle for a three-set victory at No. 1 singles, the only close match of the day. Beaufort Academy hosts Colleton Prep at 4 p.m. today.
