Beaufort High in tri-match at Ashley Ridge: The Eagles fought back for victory in the opener of a tri-match at Ashley Ridge, defeating Colleton County 2-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-20). Makayla Smalls and Alexia Neal had six kills, and Amber Gant had four kills for Beaufort. Ashley Tillery had eight aces and four digs.
The Eagles then took down the hosts from Ashley Ridge 2-1 (26-24, 18-25, 26-24). Smalls led the way with nine kills. Neal added four kills, Gant had two kills, Tillery came up with six digs and Ariana Parker connected on four crucial aces for the Eagles (3-1 overall, 2-0 region), who play at James Island on Wednesday.
Bluffton 3, St. Vincent's 0: Mackenzie Cooler had 13 kills and Grace Collins set for 24 assists to lead the Bobcats to victory in their season-opener, 25-18, 25-17, 25-19.

Abby Roulston added eight kills and went 12 for 12 on serves. Collins was 10 for 10 serving, and Dani Bothe and Morgan Delaplane each had eight digs for Bluffton (1-0), which will play in a tournament Saturday at Savannah Christian. The Bobcats will be facing five teams from the Atlanta area.
Academic Magnet 3, Battery Creek 0: The Dolphins were swept on the road, 25-14, 25-20, 25-13.
Tina Kwok had nine digs and two aces for Battery Creek (3-0). Sara Anderson led the team with four kills, Sarah Rice had three blocks, and Stephanie Colleran had three digs and an ace for the Dolphins, who play at Colleton County at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Beaufort High in tri-meet at James Island: The Eagles defeated Goose Creek in a dual, 71-22, but that was the only win of the night for Beaufort High. The Beaufort girls fell to James Island (54-40), while Beaufort's boys dropped both duals, losing to Goose Creek 41-37 and James Island 65-21.
Laura Barras was the Eagles' top swimmer on the night, winning the 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1 minute, 30.27 seconds. She also swam on the 200 freestyle relay team that finished second, joined by Elizabeth Mandell, Brittany Sutton and Jessica Barras.
Jessica Barras had a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley, and Rebecca Mandell took second in the 400 freestyle.
The Beaufort High boys team was led by its 200 free relay team of Tommy Collins, Andrew Woods, Thomas Selby and Elliott Gayken.
The Eagles are in action again Saturday, traveling to Bluffton.
Quad match at Pinecrest: Bluffton cruised to victory in a home match at Pinecrest Golf Club, finishing with a team score of 154, well ahead of Hilton Head High (180), Beaufort High (211) and Berkeley (215).
Bluffton (5-0) was led by Brandi Hammonds, who shot an even-par 36. Sammie Buchanan and Kylie Nizolek each had 37, and Kasidy Beckel carded a 44.
Jackie Budidharma had Hilton Head High's top score, a 39. Low for Beaufort was Michelle Britton with a 45. Berkeley's top performer was Waverly Wathall.
