Six area soccer players were named to the all-state teams in their respective classifications at the S.C. High School Soccer Coaches Association's all-state meeting Sunday at Brookland-Cayce High School in Columbia.
The coaches association selected seven teams of 18 players each: Class 4-A boys and girls, Class 3-A boys and girls, Class 2-A boys, Class 1-A boys and Class 2-A/1-A girls.
Three players whose teams are still in the hunt for state titles -- Beaufort High School's Andrew Settlemire and Hilton Head High's Sara Manesiotis and Maraia Tremarelli -- were among those honored.
Settlemire, a senior forward, had a goal and an assist in the Eagles' 3-1 win against Lexington on Saturday, helping Beaufort High reach the Class 4-A Lower State final for the first time. The Eagles will travel to Wando at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Manesiotis, a senior midfielder, and Tremarelli, a senior goalkeeper, have helped the Seahawks girls reach the Class 3-A Lower State final. They will host St. James at 6 p.m. tonight.
Hilton Head High's boys came up one goal short of the Lower State final, losing 2-1 to A.C. Flora on Saturday, but the Seahawks landed two players -- junior defender Tyler Betts and senior defender Will McCarty -- on the Class 3-A all-state team.
Senior defender Carlos Morales, who helped Hardeeville High School reach the second round of the Class 1-A playoffs, also earned all-state honors.
