Cardinal Newman ends season for Hilton Head Prep girls

The Hilton Head Prep girls soccer season came to a close Thursday night in Columbia, as the Dolphins were taken down by Cardinal Newman, 3-0, in the SCISAA Class 3-A semifinals.

The Dolphins found themselves in an early hole and were never able to climb out of it. Hilton Head Prep managed 17 shots on the night, but could not find the back of the net.

"It was not meant to be this evening, but I could not be more proud of these young ladies," Prep coach Chance Cook said.

Prep (13-3) graduates just three seniors -- Lane Czura, Kathleen Blum and Taylor Clark -- so Cook is excited about his team's future.

"Cardinal Newman is an outstanding squad, and it would have taken a truly superior effort for us to prevail this evening," Cook said. "Nonetheless, I am immensely proud of what we accomplished over the course of this year."
