VARSITY BASEBALL

Hilton Head Prep 8, St. Andrews 3: The Dolphins closed the regular season with a fourth consecutive victory as they prepare for next week's SCISAA Class 3-A playoffs.

Dylan Powell earned the win on the mound in his first start of the season. Marcus Hindal and Randy Young each had four hits for Prep. Patrick Andrews and John Sheehan combined to score five runs.

Dolphins coach Nathan Stevens said brackets had not yet been released, but that he hoped the Dolphins host two of their three-game series to open the playoffs.

VARSITY BOYS SOCCER

Battery Creek 3, Beaufort Academy 2: Rodney Cooper scored twice to help the Dolphins slip past the Eagles. Israel Huerta had two assists for Battery Creek. And William Lopez added an unassisted goal. Lopez and fellow keeper Miguel Mejia combined for 13 saves.

Jack Griffith and Connor Akers scored for Beaufort Academy. Eagles keeper Zach Bachtell had five saves.

Battery Creek (8-4) plays host to Bluffton today at 7 p.m. Beaufort Academy hosts Porter-Gaud on May 6 at 6 p.m.
