If there were any doubts about how Brent Evans would fare at the next level, the former Battery Creek standout removed them during his first season at Queens.
Evans, the 2010 Beaufort Gazette/Island Packet Boys Basketball Player of the Year, capped his first season at Queens by being named Co-Freshman of the Year in the Conference Carolinas. The award was announced days after Evans scored a season-best 32 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked five shots to help the Royals to a conference title-clinching victory over Belmont Abbey. The performance led to his first Player of the Week award from the conference.
Evans boasted the conference's best field goal percentage, at 62.7 percent. He led the Royals in rebounding and was fifth in the conference with 7.5 rebounds per game. He averaged 11.1 points per game his freshman season.
Evans averaged 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game his senior year at Battery Creek. He was a two-time all-state selection and was selected for the North-South All-Star game.
