Taco Bell Classic: Beaufort High School's Deja Jackson placed in two field events, and the Eagles' Martin Washington had the highest finish of any Beaufort County athlete in this weekend's elite Taco Bell Classic at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.
Washington cleared 6 feet, 4 inches to tie for second place in the high jump. Jackson had a mark of 40 feet, 7 inches to take third in the shot put and also placed eighth in the discus.
Hilton Head High's Jack Manesiotis placed fourth in the 3,200-meter run.

Shawanda Stokes had Bluffton's best finish, taking sixth in the long jump.
Battery Creek also competed in the meet, which drew top squads from all over the region.

North Gwinnett (Ga.) 3, Hilton Head High 2: After finding themselves in a 2-0 hole, the Seahawks rallied with goals from Manuel Medina and Steven Rendon to tie up the game before the visitors from Georgia put it away with a goal in the final two minutes.
Goalkeeper Mike Ritterbeck made eight saves for the Seahawks (9-4-1), who host Berkeley on Tuesday.
VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER
North Gwinnett (Ga.) 3, Hilton Head High 0: North Gwinnett, last year's Class 5-A champion in Georgia, handed the Seahawks their third loss of the season. Hilton Head High (12-3) returns to its Region 7-AAA schedule with a 7 p.m. Tuesday match at Berkeley.

Pinewood Prep 8, Hilton Head Christian 0: The Panthers cruised to victory, with only the Eagles' No. 2 singles player, Sam Trimble, winning a set. Hilton Head Christian (2-5 overall, 0-4 region) returns to action Monday, facing Hilton Head Prep at 4 p.m. at Palmetto Dunes.
