VARSITY SOFTBALL

Bluffton 4 Ashley Ridge 0: The Bobcats led 6-1 into the bottom of the sixth when the game was called due to rain. The final score reverted back to the fifth inning. Bobcats pitcher Courtney Smith allowed only two hits over five innings and struck out three. She also went 2 for 2 at the plate, with two RBIs. Lauren Lowell added two hits for the Bobcats and scored twice. Bluffton improved to 2-0 on the season. The team travels to play Hilton Head High on Friday at 6 p.m.

Battery Creek 23, Wade Hampton 11: Paige Holliday, Theresa Bishop and Alexia Cortez all went 5 for 5 as the Dolphins notched their first win of the season.

Shyliah Jones was 4 for 4, Lisa Miller and Torrie Hill each went 3 for 4 and Emily Webb was 2 for 4.

Dolphins pitchers Hill and Miller had two strikeouts each in the win.

Battery Creek (1-1) host Beaufort High on Friday.

Stratford 2, Beaufort High 0: Beaufort High softball beat the weather but couldn't overcome Stratford in a non-region contest. The Eagles dropped to 4-3 on the season. Mari Cook led Beaufort High with two hits. Jenny Mullins and Megan Cieplowski each added hits for the Eagles. Mullins pitched all seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out three. Beaufort High plays at 6:30 p.m. Friday at rival Battery Creek.

VARSITY BASEBALL

Beaufort High at Battery Creek, postponed: Beaufort High led rival Battery Creek 10-0 in the bottom of the second inning when weather postponed play. The game will resume at 6 p.m. today at Battery Creek. Fans with ticket stubs will be readmitted at no charge.

VARSITY BOYS GOLF

SCISAA Region 1-AA meet: Beaufort Academy improved to 3-0 on the season by winning a blustery match at Sanctuary Golf Club at Cat Island. The Eagles had a team score of 194, First Baptist finished at 222, Charleston Collegiate posted a 235 and St. Andrews did not have a team score.

Patrick Walker led host Beaufort Academy with a 44. Bennett Fultz and Jordan Littleford each shot 47 for the Eagles. Chris Huckbee shot 56 to round out the Eagles' top four. Eagles coach and Sanctuary Club pro Joe Matheny said winds reached more than 30 mph during the match. Beaufort Academy travels to Shadow Moss on Tuesday for a match with host First Baptist.

VARSITY BOYS TENNIS

Bluffton 4, Effingham County 2: The Bobcats ousted a team from Georgia for the second straight day, improving to 2-0 on the season. Bluffton travels north to Beaufort High on Monday for a 3:30 p.m. match.
