Beaufort High 67, Colleton County 43: Dymonte Gwathney scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Rakeem Palmer and Jordan Adderly added nine points apiece to lead the Eagles to a road win in their Region 8-AAAA opener.
Joey Chaplin had seven points and nine rebounds, Tyrone Holmes added eight points, and Simeon Daise had six points and six steals. Keith Alston had six assists for Beaufort High.
The Eagles (10-3 overall, 1-0 in Region 8-AAAA) host a region game at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Ashley Ridge.

Battery Creek 43, Berkeley 38: Terrell McWilliams scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Brent Johnson added 11 points, as the Dolphins opened Region 7-AAA play with their second consecutive victory.
Michael Robinson had a solid all-around night for the Dolphins with six points, two assists, two steals and three rebounds.
Battery Creek (6-9 overall, 1-0 in Region 7-AAA) hosts Hilton Head High in another region game at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL
Battery Creek 41, Berkeley 38: Justice Hill had 11 points, 18 rebounds and five steals, and Rashidah Jones added 14 points and four rebounds to lift the Dolphins to a tough road victory in their Region 7-AAA opener.
Deija Cannon added nine points, four rebounds and four steals for Battery Creek, and Nyeeka Simmons had four points and five assists.
The Dolphins (7-7 overall, 1-0 in Region 7-AAA) host Hilton Head High in a region game at 6 p.m. Friday.
Colleton County 47, Beaufort High 36: The Eagles fell in their Region 8-AAA opener despite 11 points and six rebounds from Ebony Watson.
Reed Burke led Colleton County with 14 points.
Paris Smith added seven points for the Eagles (7-6, 0-1 in Region 8-AAA), who host Ashley Ridge at 6 p.m. Friday.
Beaufort tri-match: Beaufort High's regular starters overwhelmed Region 8-AAAA opponent Colleton County 79-0, and the Eagles' reserves took care of first-year program St. John's for a 51-22 victory at Beaufort High.
Clayton Wynn (130), E.J. Johnson (135), Michael Holmes (140), Zach Brown (152), Kenan Jackson (160), Thyrik Legree (189), Maliek Maldonado (215) and Codrian Smalls (285) won by pin against Colleton County.
Jamie Ferreri (125), Tarae Davis (152), Jake Harries (171) and Tyler Wilson (215) won by pin against St. John's.
The Eagles (13-5 overall, 1-0 in Region 8-AAAA) will wrestle at the Boiling Springs Duals over the weekend.
