Four players from area private schools picked for all-star football game

Three area players known for putting up huge numbers on offense and one who has a reputation for delivering big hits on defense have been rewarded with invitations to play in the Oasis All-Star Shrine Classic.

Hilton Head Prep's Matt Layman, Thomas Heyward Academy's Logan Mock and Hilton Head Christian Academy teammates Luke Sirgo and Tyshawn Walls are among the 36 players who were picked to represent SCISAA against their counterparts from North Carolina private schools in the all-star game, which is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 26 at Charlotte Country Day School.

Here's a look at the four area players who made the roster:

Matt Layman
