When the 50th annual RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing tees off on April 9, there will be some past winners gunning for the plaid jacket, along with the world’s No. 1 ranked golfer Dustin Johnson.
Previous champions and RBC ambassadors Jim Furyk, Graeme McDowell, Brandt Snedeker and Matt Kuchar were the most recent golfers to commit to the event, a release from the Heritage Classic Foundation said. RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing, a PGA tour event, takes place from April 9 to 15 at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island.
The announcement comes a week after last year’s champion Wesley Bryan committed.
Furyk has won 17 PGA Tour titles, and was named player of the year and FedEx Cup Champion in 2017. Later this year, he will be the captain for the US Ryder Cup Team, the release said.
McDowell’s second-ever PGA Tour win came at the 2013 RBC Heritage when he beat Webb Simpson in a sudden-death playoff, the release said. This will be his ninth start at Harbour Town.
The 2011 tournament was won by Snedeker, who went on to two PGA Tour wins in 2012, including The Tour Championship, according to the release. He is making his 13th start at Harbour Town this year.
In 2014, Kuchar won a particularly exciting tournament, sinking a birdie shot from the bunker on the final hole to win by a single stroke.
Johnson and Bryan were spotted in Harbour Town on Monday filming a commercial for the event.
