USC Beaufort men's golf team trails by 1 shot at Embry-Riddle tournament

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team posted a team score of 4-under-par 284 Saturday and is one off the lead at the midway point of the Embry-Riddle Bash at the Beach on the Jones Course at LPGA International.

The 13th-ranked Sand Sharks are one shot back of No. 3 Coastal Georgia and a shot ahead of top-ranked Wayland Baptist after 18 holes. No. 15 Johnson & Wales is another shot back in fourth.

Junior Chandler Vilcheck led USCB with a 2-under-par 70 in the first round and is tied for second, three shots behind Matt Morin of Johnson & Wales. Senior Brian Langley and freshman Alan Cooke are tied for ninth after carding rounds of 1-under 71, while sophomore Brad Curren is tied for 14th at even-par 72 and junior Chris Finke is tied for 30th at 75.

The final round begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Sunday.
