The USC Beaufort men's golf team finished in fifth place among a tight group of teams atop the SeeMore Putters NAIA Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Tuesday at Savannah's Wilmington Island Club.
The Sand Sharks posted a team score of 289 in Tuesday's final round and finished the 54-hole event at 27-over-par 879, eight shots behind champion Northwood. The top seven teams were separated by 10 shots.
Luke McClellan led USCB in the final round with a 67. Jack Bingham was the team's top overall finisher at 4-over 217.
The USCB men wrap up their fall season when they travel to Miami Shores, Fla., for the Johnson & Wales Wildcat Invitational from Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
USCB women 10th
The Sand Shark women matched their opening-round score with another team total of 314 and remained in 10th place on the final day of the Charleston Southern Wendy's Invitational at Coosaw Creek Country Club.
USCB's team total of 628 was 23 shots behind champion Marshall.
The Sand Sharks were the only NAIA school in the 16-team field, which included 14 NCAA Division I schools.
Phyllis Langley led USCB, tying for 23rd at 13-over 155, followed by Adriana Saavedra, who tied for 30th at 156. Kendra Collins (T-34th, 157), Samantha O'Donnell (T-45th, 160) and Tori DeGroodt (T-79th, 177) rounded out the Sand Sharks' lineup.
USCB's women play their final tournament of the fall Oct. 24-25 at the Flagler Fall Slam in St. Augustine, Fla.
