Sand Sharks sail through Edward Waters

The USC Beaufort baseball team racked up 22 hits, including four home runs, and the Sand Sharks pounded Edward Waters 16-1 on Tuesday in Jacksonville, Fla.

Freshman Erik Armstrong led the offensive outburst, going 4 for 5 with two home runs and eight RBIs, and Spencer Jackson was 4 for 6 with a home run, a double and five RBIs. Gabe Torres was 5 for 5, and Keifer Youmans was 3 for 5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.

Left-hander Adam Miller picked up the win to improve to 3-5, allowing three hits and striking out four in three innings. Michael Heesch worked three innings in relief, and Colton Rudd pitched the seventh.

USCB (24-18) travels to Miami Gardens, Fla., to begin a three-game Sun Conference series against Florida Memorial on Friday. The Sand Sharks need to sweep the series and get some help to qualify for the six-team Sun Conference tournament.
