Sand Sharks power past Southern Wesleyan, 14-5

Blake Cilwick and Keifer Youmans hit home runs and Spencer Jackson had three hits and three RBIs to lead an offensive outburst, and the USC Beaufort baseball team went on the road and pounded Southern Wesleyan 14-5 in a non-conference game Tuesday in Central.

Cilwick led off the second with his first home run, setting the stage for a five-run inning, and Youmans added a two-run home run in the third, as USCB staked freshman right-hander Stephen Richards to an 8-0 lead.

Richards lasted seven innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits, for his fifth win. His only major mistake was Thomas Floyd's three-run home run in the fifth.

Seven USCB players had at least two hits, and seven had at least one RBI.

The Sand Sharks (23-17, 10-14 Sun Conference) return home for a non-conference game against Brewton-Parker at 4 p.m. today.
