USCB women in 5th after first day at Embry-Riddle tourney

The USC Beaufort women's golf team posted a team score of 320 on Saturday and is in fifth place after the first round of the Embry-Riddle Bash at the Beach at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Sand Sharks are just seven shots behind second-place SCAD Savannah, but NCAA Division II power Florida Southern holds a 13-stroke lead after posting a team score of 300.

Kaitlin O'Sullivan led the Sand Sharks in the first round with a 5-over-par 77, good for a tie for ninth place. Kelli Nakano (80), Kendra Collins (81), Adriana Saavedra (82) and Sophie Henke (91) rounded out the lineup.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes today.
