USCB women 2nd in golf opener

The spring season got off to a solid start for USC Beaufort's women's golf team Sunday, as the Sand Sharks are in second place behind NCAA Division II power Florida Southern after the opening round of the Start2Finish Webber Classic in Lake Wales, Fla.

The Sand Sharks, who are ranked 14th in the NAIA preseason coaches poll, posted a team score of 333 in the opening round, leaving them 15 shots behind Florida Southern and two shots ahead of third-place Centre College.
