4-star DT Christian Wilkins commits to Clemson over Penn State, Ohio State

In a bit of a surprise, Clemson added another highly-regarded prospect to the 2015 class when 4-star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins announced his commitment Monday afternoon.

The Suffield Academy (Conn.) product had kept his recruiting leans close to the vest — not even announcing a formal date for his school pick.

Wilkins finished with his official visits on Dec. 12 at Ohio State, visiting Clemson back on Nov. 22. Penn State, Ohio State and Stanford were among teams regarded as favorites.

Standing 6-5 305, Wilkins is a seventh Rivals 100 prospect in this class for the Tigers, ranking No. 58 overall.

Just last week, Wilkins joined a slew of Clemson commits in St. Pete for the Under Armour All-America game, where he returned a blocked extra point for a score.
