Clemson AD Dan Radakovich discusses Dabo Swinney’s new contract
Clemson will play several early games in prime time in 2019 after winning its second national title in three years in January.
The first game times for the upcoming season was announced on Wednesday, and it is no surprise that the Tigers will face Syracuse and Georgia Tech on national TV at night.
Clemson will host the Yellow Jackets in the Aug. 29 opener at 8 p.m. on the ACC Network the ACC announced Wednesday, hours after ESPN announced the Tigers will play the Orange at 7:30 p.m. on ABC on Sept. 14. The Syracuse game is Week 3, with Texas A&M at home the week before.
The Tigers have not lost a regular season game since falling to Syracuse on the road in 2017.
The Orange nearly upset Clemson last season as well before the Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter to earn a 27-23 victory on their way to a 15-0 season and national title.
No other game times have been set yet, although Clemson and Georgia Tech will open the season on Thursday, Aug. 29. The game will be the first live college football game played on the ACC Network and is expected to be in prime time.
Clemson has designated the Georgia Tech game for its National Championship Celebration game. The 2018 team will be honored prior to the start of the 2019 season.
The following week against Texas A&M the Tigers will celebrate IPTAY Day.
The game against Charlotte on Sept. 21 will take place as part of Family Weekend. Other gameday designations include Solid Orange Day on Oct. 12 against Florida State, Homecoming/Football Reunion Day on Oct. 26 against Boston College, Military Appreciation Day/Purple Out on Nov. 2 against Wofford and Senior Day/Hall of Fame Day on Nov. 16 against Wake Forest.
