3 Beaufort weightlifters to compete this weekend at US Junior Nationals

Three Beaufort weightlifters are among the 350 athletes competing this weekend at the USA Weightlifting 2016 Junior National Championships at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Valley Forge, Pa.

The Junior Nationals will determine the 2016 U.S. Junior Pan Am Championships team and is a qualifying event for the 2016 Junior World Championships and Youth International teams.

Beaufort’s C.J. Cummings, Omar Cummings and Dade Stanley, along with coach Ray Jones, will compete this weekend.

Stanley was the 2015 Youth National Champion and Best Overall 13 and under lifter.

Omar Cummings was a member of the 2015 USA Youth World Championships team and a bronze medalist.

C.J. Cummings, who made a a featured appearance on the “CBS Evening News” in January, was a Team USA member for the 2015 World Championships and the top all-around lifter at the 2015 U.S. Junior Nationals.

All three are U.S. record holders.

Their sessions will be broadcast live at www.teamusa.org/usa-weightlifting/LIVE.

Stanley will lift at 1:30 p.m. Friday. C.J. Cummings will lift at 5:30 p.m. that same day.

Omar Cummings will lift at 4 p.m. Saturday.
