Does South Carolina or Clemson have the better overall sports program?
According to the 2013-14 Division I Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup final standings that were released on Friday, it is USC -- by a wide margin.
The Gamecocks finished 35th with 591.50 points, well ahead of Clemson at No. 60 with 355.50 points.
The Cup is a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each school's finish in up to 20 sports: 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
Stanford finished first with 1,482 points and Florida was second with 1216.50 points. Notre Dame was third, Virginia fourth and Penn State fifth.
The ACC and Pac12 each have three schools ranked in the top 10.
USC and Clemson were both ninth in their respective conferences.
