Fundraising festival Saturday to benefit Trerotola family

Friends and family members of John (J.T.) Trerotola are hosting the first annual JT Trerotola Memorial Bash on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. at the M.C. Riley Sports Complex in Bluffton.

All funds raised will go to the J.T. Trerotola Memorial Fund to support his family after his death July 5.

After moving to Bluffton from Philadelphia in 1995, Trerotola, 44, became a well-known area youth baseball coach. He is survived by his wife, Jackie, four children and one grandchild.

Admission will be $3 for children ages 6 to 13 and $5 for ages 14 and up. Children 5 and younger are free. Admission includes one free meal ticket. Drinks will be sold separately.

Activities include a home run derby, a pitch, hit, and run competition, a football challenge, a dunk tank and bounce houses.

There also will be a silent auction. Items to bid on include baseball equipment, spa and salon treatments, overnight stays on Hilton Head Island, restaurant gift certificates, goody baskets and more.

A cornhole tournament will follow at 7:15 p.m. at Captain Woody's in Bluffton. Admission is $30 per team, and sign-ups for the tournament will begin at 6 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place winners.

Music will be provided by Jordan Ross, and 10 percent of all sales at the Captain Woody's Rooftop Bar will be donated to the memorial fund.

Donations can be made out to the J.T. Trerotola Memorial Fund care of First Federal Bank, 9 Oak Forest Road, Bluffton, S.C. 29910.
