CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- Jon McGibbon drove in the go-ahead run with a single as part of Clemson's three-run ninth inning, and the Tigers defeated Western Carolina, 12-9, on Tuesday to improve to 22-11 on the season.
Hilton Head Island's Patrick Andrews (1-1) pitched 1 1-3 perfect innings in relief to earn the win. He struck out two.
Scott Firth pitched a scoreless ninth to record his first save of the season.
Jon Nadale (0-2) got the loss for Western Carolina.

The Tigers scored nine runs over the first four innings to build a 9-3 lead, but the Catamounts rallied for six runs, four of which were unearned, in the seventh inning to tie the score.
Every Clemson starter had at least one hit, led by McGibbon, who went 3 for 4 with four RBIs.
Aaron Attaway was 4 for 5 with a double for Western Carolina (19-16).
Clemson will host Presbyterian College at 6:30 p.m. today.
