Impressive seasons continued Thursday for a pair of Hilton Head Island junior tennis players. Hayley Carter and Isabelle Boulais won the 18- and 12-and-under age divisions, respectively, in the Wachovia Palmetto Championships in Belton. An invitation-only event, it is known as the top junior state tournament in South Carolina.
Carter and Boulais also were part of teams that won doubles championships Thursday to round out the seven-day tournament.
Carter, who won the 16-and-under division last year, defeated Ellie Halbauer 6-2, 6-2 in her singles finals match Thursday for her second consecutive title in the Palmetto Championships. She later paired with fellow islander Ashley Kitchen to win the girls 18s doubles title.
Boulais defeated top-seeded Ali Despain 7-5, 6-2 to win the 12-and-under bracket without dropping a set in the tournament. The two finals participants played together in the doubles bracket, and they won a three-set match against Hannah Alexander and Lauren Joch on Thursday to capture that championship.

Carter's victory not only continues a dominant streak at the Palmetto Championships but also a successful season. She upset third-seeded Megan Falcon in straight sets last week in the ITF Head/Tail Activewear Women's $10K, played at Van Der Meer Tennis Center.
Boulais also has had a strong season. In February, she won the prestigious SMASH Junior Cup at Family Circle Tennis Center.
Amber Policare nearly gave Hilton Head Island a third singles title, but she lost a tightly contested girls 14s championship match to Curran Carver, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
