The second annual Friends of Hunting Island 5K run and walk is set for today at Hunting Island State Park. The course, which runs through the island's maritime forest, is flat on newly widened, graded, shell-surfaced trails.
Final registration starts at 8 a.m. leading up to the start of the 9 a.m. race at the Nature Center. Age divisions are 12 and under, 13-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and older. Prizes will be awarded to winners. T-shirts will be given to all participants. An awards ceremony will follow at the Nature Center.
